26 Play Drive Wins Emerald Bowl for Middies

Congratulations to the Naval Academy for winning the Emerald Bowl on Thursday against the Lobos of New Mexico, 34-19. The win capped an improbable season for the Midshipmen in which they won 10 games for the first time in 99 years.

The game featured one of football's all-time greatest drives, a 26 play, 94 yard affair starting at Navy's one yard line, and ending in a field goal. The game sealing march lasted nearly an entire quarter at 14 minutes and 26 seconds.

"I've never heard of a 14-minute drive," Lobos coach Rocky Long said. "The strange thing is, we weren't playing bad defense."

What a season. And Navy's coach received the recognition he deserved by winning the Coach of the Year award. Now let's see what we can do next season about that Notre Dame losing streak.
