Timing is Everything

My former employer laid me off at exactly the wrong time. There are few jobs, the stock market is pummeling my already meager holdings, and the pennant race is in full swing while my pockets are barren. Then comes this headline in the Chicago Tribune:

Panhandler crackdown pushed
Panhandlers would be barred from heavy-handed tactics under a measure introduced to the Chicago City Council.

Seriously, how's a guy supposed to make it day-by-day in this situation?!
